Cheryl Kennedy MacDonald

BA (Hons) PgDip. MA. Adhd-Ccsp. CSTIP. CSCT . NATC

Female-Focused Psychotherapist | Couples & Sex Therapy | ADHD Specialist

I grew up in Glasgow, a city that doesn’t care who you are or where you came from. Humour is our antidote to pain, honesty is non-negotiable, and we’re resilient. Those values are at the heart of my work as a therapist.

I’ve spent over two decades supporting women through every life stage – from pregnancy to perimenopause, heartbreak to career changes – helping them create a life they don’t have to apologise for. My style is warm and deeply empathetic, but I won’t sugar-coat things for you. I believe real change happens when you stop pretending and bring your whole self – body, mind and soul – into the therapy room.

I use an integrative approach that blends practical, evidence-based methods with deep emotional insight:

  • CBT and ACT techniques for clarity and actionable change
  • Psychodynamic theory to help you spot recurring patterns
  • Somatic and mindfulness practices to slow things down and reconnect you with your body
  • Sex and relationship therapy to untangle intimacy, desire and connection. I am a specialist in narcissistic abuse recovery and divorce healing.
  • Specialist ADHD support for women navigating life with a neurodivergent brain

Background and Experience

My career has always been about women’s empowerment. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I founded YogaBellies, a global women’s yoga collective, and trained hundreds of teachers and birth mentors worldwide. I’ve authored multiple best-selling books on yoga, childbirth, menopause and mindset, and created Birth ROCKS, a unique hypnobirthing method now taught internationally.

I bring 20 years of experience mentoring women – from helping them feel safe and confident in their bodies to guiding female entrepreneurs as they built businesses and brands. Along the way, I’ve been recognised with awards including Dragon’s Den Winner, Scottish Edge Award and Woman of the Year.

Now, I focus exclusively on psychotherapy and mind-body support for women. My practice is unapologetically female-centric, designed to meet you wherever you are in life, with compassion and realism in equal measur
